Landschap der Nederlandse Volksmuziek (deel 2)

With this performance Rosa Ensemble returns to the foundation; the small, intimate and musical.

Composers Wilbert Bulsink, Floris van Bergeijk, Jeroen Kimman and visual artist Mike Rijnierse take their inspiration from the informal and unpretentiousness nature of folk music.

When you think of the Netherlands and folk music you don’t get much further than street organs, brass bands and TROS-fairs. Rosa Ensemble creates their equivalent of the Alan Lomax¬†Collection – a dusted sample from the Dutch collection of folk music

The result is a bizarre and virtuoso quasi-fictional anthology of the Low Countries. The diversity of these composed tunes reflects the fragmentation of subcultures in a post pillarized Netherlands: from Verenigingswezen to Hangjeugd, from Koningsgezind to Nachttrein, from Planbureau to VOC-mentality – you are spared nothing!
